Our Layouts

Martin County Model Railroaders is one of the few train clubs with layouts in multiple gauges. Be sure to check out the pictures under this menu.

N Gauge - Our newest and still under construction. Our new N scale layout is over 28 feet long and has a DCC system. As in Photos, you will see horseshoe curve, which is in Pennsylvania. Also, you will see mountains where Coal is extracted from for energy to produce steel and heat.. we also detailed a town IN Pennsylvania and our last phase will be a city in the distance towards the back of the layout.

HO Gauge - This large U shaped layout has it all - The DCC controlled trains travel from the rail yard, across the river, through the farmland and the mine and then across a second river to the town and to the amusement park with moving dodgem cars and Ferris wheel. This HO town has shops from all our sponsors, so be sure to visit them.

S Gauge (with a little bit of O) - American Flyer at it's finest. Watch the passenger station stop the train and play the American Flyer train announcement. Then on to the oil drum loader and bubbling towers, past the farm and into the rail yard. Then through the town with the flashing lights, street lights and log loader. On to the watchtower and underground baggage loader. Watch Mo and Joe unload the lumber. All topped off with a little bit of O gauge trolley and the circus. Watch the parachute drop, the swings, the bell ringer, and look under the big top.

Pre-War Gauges - What a trip back in time for all you standard gauge lovers. And check out the wind up roller coaster, bridge and power station. This layout represents pre-WWII Standard Gauge and O-Gauge, electric and windup, from early 1900's to 1939/1940. This is the start of the model railroading hobby. Earliest piece is a 1917 Lionel Mfg. 33. Manufacturers represented during this period are Lionel, Ives, American Flyer, Marx, Joy Line, and AC Gilbert/Erector.

O Gauge - For our O lovers, we proudly display the Cars of Dreams layout generously donated to our club by John Staluppi . Due to transportation limitations, the layout had to be cut into three pieces. Tim and Jerry have spend literally days and nights putting it back into working order. It is a marvelous layout with 5 main tracks, a subway and just about every operating accessory Lionel made. It is truly a dream to behold.

On30 -This layout built by Buck is an O gauge (1:48), with 30” spacing between the rails (In real life).  The main line which runs along the front of the layout is built to the specs of the Florida narrow gauge organization so that this layout will adapt to their module layouts at shows and open houses.  Buck wired the layout so that the ‘main line’ can either run with my module or can be switched to run independently with other narrow gauge modules.

HOn30 SCALE - Generously donated to the club by Carl, one of our members, this layout is meticulously detailed.

Christmas Layout - The Christmas of your dreams in Department 57. The club was lucky to obtain this custom made layout - a hit with adults and kids not only at Christmas. MTH tracks and Polar Express cars complete the layout.

G GAUGE - Our old faithful - now our oldest layout. Sugar train with cars of sugar can roll up to the US Sugar Plant. Train cars with our sponsor's names ride around the five track layout in a dance of motion.

RUN THE TRAINS - The favorite of the children where they are in control and run the trains. Also a favorite of the parents, who can catch a rest while the kids are entertained.
